Reading Angels by Marian Keyes confirmed what I always suspected - that Happy Endings do no exist.
The whole Cinderella-ish charming guy, high flying career and happy happy happiness are nothing more than fairy tales. Life simply does not come in nicely packaged gift boxes and user manuals. Goal #1 Getting a va va vroom education to impree Goal #2 Landing a high-flying career Goal #3 A forever happy marriage In fact, I think life is a as best as you can muster, honey! effort. No rights or wrongs, on perfect, no Happy Endings.
Anyway, even if you try your hardest to get to a Happy Ending, who's to say you got There?
I suppose this is just a lengthier way of saying that the journey counts more than the destination. The experience more than the result. I think the memories are worth more.
Oh, just read Angels already. If you are anything like me, you would feel enlightened yet, lost in the why-am-I-feeling-this-way. Put it this way, I guess it's the irrevelant obserations that hit home.
And it did remind me a little of the Family ad in which I cried during.
In this state of emotional unwellbeing, I just wanted to remember that as much as I doubt Happy Endings, I sure want to be working my way there. For the memories.
Guess I'm only human.
