The WiMAX Forum is over!

It’s kind of sad. It had been such a great change – I could wear jeans on a weekday, pop sweets and give out / guard jealously the freebies that we were giving out. Plus I got to sit around the booth and mingle with Motorolans and potential customers instead of seeing my hi-i-live-here-cube.

The crowd was pretty awesome – lots and lots of nice suits, which is more than I can say for those suited guys in school – supposedly more purposeful than last year’s. Well, I wouldn’t know, but oh! The post-events things that I have to do! Photo albums, website updates, PR reports, monthly reports, namecards, databases….everything that I didn’t do while busy at the Forum and all the after-events stuff.

Not that I’m not glad to be working hard – it’s so much more fun to be working on marketing than studying! (:

Here's some pictures: =D

Cass, Cordia and I on the Day 1. I wasn't in pink 'cause I'm only delivery girl. (:

Day 2 - finally in the right stuff. I'm with both my Cantonese-speak-a-thon bosses. I can't understand what they say at all!

Everyone on the last day!

Best part about today – yesterday – is that: the man himself is back! From Taiwan, with its ninja vans bringing fried – whole?! – chickens, cheap shopping and supposedly good Taiwan beer. I want to go!

Michael! (: He’s pretty happy about the terrible sludge-through-mud and lucky get-drunk days in Taiwan – it helped him lose weight! O.o Okay, definitely more mud’s doing than beer’s.Get me my weight-loss mud already! I’m this close to my goal…and my coveted grand prize!

Anyway, we met up right after the Forum and he just picked me up like I was a rag doll and swing me around! Fun, embarrassing…fun! Michael – was late! >:O – and I went shopping after Kenny Rogers; at Zara, he tried on this dress shirt in Small…and it fits! O.o Hahaha! Yes, I’m truly proud. *nods* =D

Oh, did I mention? I told SC if he could lose 10kg, I’d treat him to a buffet – Seoul, Sakae or Nippon Hut. And HuiJing promised another buffet if he lose another 10kg. Lianghao proclaims he likes SC the way he is. -_- End result: SC gained instead. ):

Sooooo, we’re going cycling next Saturday! (:

Rambles on…

I’m soooo excited! (:

I dont get it - are humans born to be repetitive?
Rehashing history, recounting events and situations again and again?

Sometimes, it gets so boring.
Especially when you're not involved in said history,
but somehow, still got subjected to yet another repeat.

I honestly think we all need a new hobby.
Or more excitements in our lives.

Or maybe, it's just me having these thoughts.

Gran seems perfectly happy repeating her stories,
so does Mom and Dad and most other adults.
The YG also seems happy,
even though a silence lapse almost always fall after a recount -
the kind of weird silence as everyone
a) absorb the content (which is weird, 'cause it's a repeat)
b) scramble for something to say, like something that happened last year.

Were we made this way?
Evolved to become this?

How perfectly boring.

And it just occurred to me:
Newspaper articles rehash too.
So does monthly magazines - except they have a little more control, they only repeat annually
Work is usually repeated.
Heck, even story lines are repeated.

What the hell.
Let me get back to my repeat life:
Work Eat Talk about same topic Eat Sleep
Hmms.

I have always wondered how the “Absence makes the heart fonder” theory works. Apparently, when you don’t see someone, you’ll think of him night and day, at every waking hour. (I might have exaggerated, but, it’s all the same difference. See, it’s perception!)

But surely, if you don’t meet somebody long enough, you won’t think of him!

Or does the theory works, because you would inadvertently forget all his flaws and how he looks? And then proceed to imagine him to be a handsome rouge, with the most charming smile?

That I’d have agreed – the forget-his-flaws part anyway.

Seeing that I have never really believed in that theory, it’s strange that I would miss Michael so much more now when he is in Taiwan shooting trees and nature of the like. It’s like he’s not… available somehow.

Though I still text him, it’s not the same. His leaving – however temporarily – made me feel independent, even as if I’m not attached. It’s nice to feel like that, once in a while. =D

I was beginning to wonder – half in fear! – if I am turning into a hopeless romantic like some I know (Results: Negative) or become so dependent that I can’t stand myself (again, not me). I would hate to be either.

Ironically, we had – in my mind – grew closer after his trip down under to Australia.(:
That’s a cheery thought for what’s to come, right?

So while he have fun and suffer in turns in Taiwan – where I soooo want to shop! - , I shall be ‘single’ for a while (: In this sweltering heat.

Maybe the world is not so pretty anymore. Hmms.

I’m whiling the time away while the busy Hong Kong interns are finding time to impart their knowledge to us. There is really so much to learn! No wonder everyone was saying how Motorola is a good place to intern at – they really throw us into the chaos of reports and contacts.

Still, I’m looking forward to starting a real job. I’m such a workaholic! Haha.

You see, I believe in job satisfaction. Plus, I want to BUY STUFF. So materialistic…haha. I have a great long shopping list. I won’t list them out, but I have a few off my head.

HAIRCUT. I won’t say I’m going wild with my hairdresser, but I’m definitely getting more than ‘Trim my bangs and ends. TY.’. Perhaps I should get bangs a la Anne Hathaway in The Devil wears Prada? And I so want to go for a hair treatment!

EYES. I want contacts. Like want want want want. I’ll love anyone who get them for me to bits. (: I don’t mind glasses too, some look really pretty; while mine is practically ancient! Of course, if Lasik is an option, I’ll LOVEE the person!

LAPTOP.
I need a new lappie! See Asus’s new mini laptop – very very pretty! But it’s hard to search it online, so you got to see it at Sim Lim or Funan. The gist: it looks great, has a pretty good ram, and is compact! What more can a non-gaming girl ask for! Especially when her laptop’s internet driver fails her.

I can see this is going to the cupboard of 'never-gonna-happen-wishlists'.

The morning sky look lovely today, like a pretty painting that some giant has finished during the dawn. I’m so whimsical huh? (:

I wonder if I noticed because
a) I’m bored, or
b) I’m happy?
I would like to think that I’m happy. Happy people notice pretty things!

It’s Day 3 of ‘Michael in Taiwan’. Psst, I don’t miss him so much yet! (X I reckon it’s because I usually meet up with him during the weekends anyway, what with school, then SIP and his duties. SO I’m really dreading the weekend.

Or rather, half-dread. Any day that I can sleep in is a good day right? (: Not to say work is terrible. I like to work, just ask anyone! The best jobs are the hustle-bustle kind – makes time go all the faster! Like bam!, and home we go! (:

But my pay’s pretty paltry, and I’m hoping Cass would help me some kids in need of tuition. Mind you, if they come to me, they must be pretty desperate!

I’m meeting Krads and gang tomorrow! I’m so excited – no idea why! Haha. As long as he stays off the vulgarities! Especially when he says them really loud. Argh. Hopefully, they can all come! (: Yanny already reported her nocturnal working hours.

And Friday’s BBQ! It’s so nice to get more people, if the guys would get their friends. ): What’s a plan if only I’m doing it!

We need ADD-ONs! (X

Friday, April 3

Oh busy, busy day.
I received several emails in the wee hours of the morning - isn't that the coolest thing in the world?
There are people working around the clock at Motorola [and for Motorola].

Okay, of course I do know that these 'hard workers' are overseas,
and it's bright as day there.
But you know.
Mototrola is open 24/7!

All companies are.

Which leads me to think:
if a media crisis breaks out in Singapore,
do the PR team overseas settle it?
Or does the emergency team in Singapore's fair shores get up?

It's a pretty fair question,
since the Internet is the It thing.
Plus, it's taking over our lifes.

People in Motorola don't talk as much as they email and IM.
Messages get sent over emails,
documents are all in softcopy,
and people [note: Nicole OY] talks to her cubby neighbour via IM.

[Our cubes are pretty large,
but you can still hear each other at a whisper.
Why IM!]

I reckon it's the same the-Internet's-taking-over! scenario in every company.
Heck, I even completed my Employment Form in softcopy!
If you have not seen one,
it's a truly terrifying looking piece of document that has drop boxes
with codes in them.
Okay, I'm exaggerating but it's pretty cool looking.
Unless you're the one filling it in.

Oh look, another Email: ah, an online dicussion.
See what I mean?

By 2020 (when I'm at the grand age of 30!),
we are all never gonna leave home.
Or beds, for the matter.

Ooooh, it's been so long since I blogged.
And with good reason too.
I'M WORKING! - all the way at Yio Chu Kang too.
Between that and social life and real living,
I have zilch time to go online. ):

The place is soooo far from civilisation,
that it takes an hour and the half just to get there.
[I know this is probably normal in bigger countries,
but, c'mon, we're in Singapore!]

B u s , t r a i n , b u s .

Thankfully, Nicole's awesome mom give us a lift to work all the time! ((:

I swear, anyone who can give me a ride all the time can get 100 dollars,
which would have gone to tranport anyway.

Anyway, working at Motorola is pretty cool.
There's lots of nice people, ...
and lots of stationery lying around.

The minute I got my cubicle
[4x the size of the one I shared with 2 others at Prudential!
I guess it's the difference between YCK and town right.]

I was given tons of pens and Post-Its.
And nice Christine gave me lots of files.
But seriously, the real currency is CHOCOLATES! :D

That, and coffee. (:

Yesterday, SzeKi [bossie] sent me to an event;
and that was pretty cool too.
I met all the CTOs and HODs,
got their business cards for the database and so forth.

But the most exciting part has got to be getting my laptop..
finally, real work!
Nope, no FB and stuff. (:

Crazy as it seems,
I really want to start doing work work.
Marketing, sourcing for manpower to create advertising and branding!
That seems fun. (:

Talk to me and I'll tell you how fun work is. (:

LAST WEEKEND

Michael michael m i c h a e l . . .

Honestly, it was a blur.
Well, I went 'cycling' with Michael. (:
In the end, we ended up with a super impromptu picnic,
at ECP with a bottle of red and Lagoon food!

It was pretty nice to just sit,
and watch the sunset,
and then see the stars come out. (:
There were 21 stars!
21 means freedom, no?

Um. I met up with his friends too!
And with Ee Hern who just came back from Taiwan.
Apparently, Kat and Willie just got back from there too!
I am so jealous about all the shopping they had been doing.
Or well, just Kat.
Willie was Mister Porter. (:

Not to mention travelling,
this is like their 3rd overseas trip this holiday.

From what they said,
Taiwan can be pretty wild,
with lots of side entertainment between your shopping sprees. O.o

And they are pretty Chinese-y.
Michael will only be able to order one thing:
Uncle, beer! Beer!
HAHA! :D

Ee Hern is really nice, and apparently
he told Michael at Queens and Mangosteen that I'm nice too. (:
And Ee Hern is so funny!
He turns red whenever he has a single mug! :D

And Kat was so nice to add:
people who turn red get some cancer easily.
HAHA!

Hmms, I should really pictures. ):
It was a pretty fun night,
where Graham was laughed at [AWW!],
where I was labelled underage girl [RAWR!],
and where I met more people.

Why does Michael have so many close friends!
He has four times as many close friends as I do.
Beer and soccer breeds friends huh.

Oh right,
MANUTD WILL KILL ASTON VILLA'S ASS! :D
